American Job Center Coordinator / System Leader – Pro Action’s Employment and Training Department is seeking a team player to provide oversight for multiple American Job Centers within our service area, provide outstanding service to American Job Center customers and facilitate community outreach and events relative to Career Center services.

The American Job Center Coordinator/System Leader will work with teams at individual American Job Centers to ensure continuous improvement of their service delivery systems and be responsible for staff training and the successful implementation of Department of Labor funded programs.  Will be responsible for creating and maintaining detailed reports and statistical databases.

Customer service functions of this position include initial assessment and registration of American Job Center customers and providing customers with orientation to American Job Center Services.  Will refer customers to appropriate resources as needed and effectively and productively respond to emergency situations and complaints.  Will post open jobs with the Department of Labor, Civil Service listings and other appropriate resources.

In conjunction with community partners, the Coordinator/System Leader will facilitate on-site job interviews, recruitment activities, job fairs and trainings.  Will represent the organization at meetings and other community events as required.

The requirements for this position are an Associate’s Degree in Human Services or a related field with a minimum of 3 years working in Human Services.  Experience working with the general public and target populations is required.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

The successful applicant will possess outstanding customer service skills along with the ability to work as part of a team as well as work independently.  Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills, with the ability to listen effectively are necessary.  Must be proficient with computer database and word processing applications.  A valid driver’s license meeting agency standards is required for this position.

Part-Time Bus Driver – Hornell:  Pro Action’s Head Start/Early Head Start has a part time, full year opportunity for a Part Time Bus Driver in the Hornell area.  This is at least a 15 hour per week position with additional hours as needed.  This position will begin as soon as possible.

Responsibilities: Provide transportation for infants, toddlers, preschoolers to/from school and on field trips; proper inspection/maintenance of the bus and taking the bus in for regularly scheduled maintenance.  Must comply with Head Start Performance Standards and NYS DOT 19A requirements.  Qualifications: Must meet all 19A requirements for a bus driver and have a Class B CDL with S&P endorsements.  Experience driving school bus and experience with children a plus. Temporary HEAP Processor – Steuben County:
This position, based at the Steuben County Office Building, is responsible for the review and processing of HEAP applications and some administrative duties for the program.

Position requires a high school diploma and three years of related work experience. Must have experience in computer technology and be proficient in data entry.  Reliable transportation required.

This is a temporary position, 37.5 hours per week through mid-March.

Early Literacy Education Specialist: Pro Action’s Child Care Aware® of Steuben and Schuyler department is seeking applicants for an Early Literacy Education Specialist.
The Early Literacy Education Specialist will support early literacy in child care programs in Steuben and Schuyler Counties through training and technical assistance including onsite and classroom seminars and the facilitation of professional associations and mentoring arrangements. Responsible for administration of service delivery according to contracts.

The Early Literacy Education Specialist should have strong literacy skills, Strong presentation/training/mentoring/coaching skills, be proficient in accurate data entry, have strong analytical skills and be focused on solutions and decision making.  Should also have knowledge of child care day care regulations.

Bachelor Degree in early childhood education with two years’ experience preferred.  Home visiting experience helpful.  Driver’s License meeting agency standards required. Our Head Start/UPK program has vacancies for Early Childhood Education Teachers in various school districts.

As part of the classroom team providing comprehensive services to children and their families, the Teacher helps children attain the skills they need to be ready for Kindergarten and implements Pre-K curriculum that meets the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework and New York State Pre-K Foundation for the Common Core.

New York State Certification in Early Childhood Education or Special Education, Birth – Grade 2 is preferred.  Prior experience working with preschool age children, supervisory skills, excellent organizational and time management skills are beneficial.

Teaching Assistant Vacancies –   Pro Action’s Head Start Program is accepting applications for two Teaching Assistant positions – one in Avoca and one in Bath. 

Responsibilities – The Teaching Assistant partners with the Certified Teacher in planning and implementing preschool classroom activities, adhering to Head Start Performance Standards, NYS Office of Children and Family Services Day Care Regulations and all other applicable regulations.  Working in a team environment, the Teaching Assistant will participate in weekly planning sessions, attend training and meetings as required, ensure a safe and healthy classroom environment, assist in classroom and program modifications, and help with inventory as needed.

Qualifications – This position requires a Child Development Associate (CDA) or an Associate’s Degree or current enrollment in a program leading to a CDA or Associates Degree, with experience in a preschool setting.

Pro Action’s Head Start / Early Head Start Programs are seeking applicants for Classroom Substitutes in the Penn Yan, Jasper-Troupsburg, Corning, Wayland and Bath School Districts.

There are many advantages to becoming a Classroom Substitute, including:

TEMPORARY Subsidy Timesheet Processor –
Pro Action’s Child Care Aware® of Steuben and Schuyler department is seeking applicants for a Subsidy Processor.   This is a temporary position.

The Subsidy Processor will validate and process attendance sheets for monthly provider reimbursement in Child Care Time and Attendance software.  Will ensure that provider rate agreements are updated and maintain updated procedures and forms. Will be responsible for the reconciliation of payments.  Will provide technical assistance to parents and providers regarding timesheet processing claims/procedures.

The Subsidy Processor should have strong mathematical / accounting skills, be proficient in accurate data entry, have strong analytical skills and be focused on solutions and decision making.  Should also have knowledge of child care subsidy regulations.  A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; will consider an Associate’s Degree or High School diploma with work related experience.

Senior Community Service Employment Program: Pro Action is seeking individuals for multiple positions in Allegany, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates Counties.

Part Time Opportunity – Maintenance Worker: Pro action is seeking a part-time, per-Diem Maintenance Worker.  This position will work 8 hours per week with intermittent additional hours to perform occasional mowing, unloading deliveries and covering the vacations of other maintenance staff.
Responsibilities: Duties of this position include interior and exterior custodial work and cleaning (vacuuming, mopping, shampooing carpets, etc.), emptying/maintaining trash receptacles and recycling bins, stocking and replenishing supplies, moving and arranging furniture and setting up for meetings/events.

  Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.  This job requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. and a valid driver’s license meeting agency standards.

Part Time Position at Steuben County OFA – Caregiver Resource / Information & Referral Assistant:  Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc., is seeking applications from individuals who are passionate about providing services for our older population and persons with disabilities.  We are seeking a competent, caring professional to provide caregiver support, information and referrals, and community outreach and education regarding the issues facing older and disabled Steuben County residents.

This position is part-time, three full days per week at the Steuben County Office for the Aging.  The requirements for this position include a valid driver’s license meeting agency standards and the ability to travel throughout Steuben County.  Strong interpersonal skills, computer skills, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are also required.  Qualified candidates will have the minimum of a two-year degree in Gerontology, Human Services or a related field and at least one year of related experience.
