Wheels for Work
The Steuben County Wheels for Work program helps eligible individuals secure reliable transportation to either retain or obtain employment.
Steuben County Wheels for Work Services include:
- Auto repair grants
- Insurance payment grants
- Registration grants
The Chemung County Wheels for Work program is offered in partnership with the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes, Inc.
The Chemung County program is able to assist income eligible individuals with:
- Auto repair grants
- Insurance payment grants
- Registration grants
Eligibility - Steuben County
Individuals receiving cash assistance (TANF) or earning below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level who meet these additional eligibility criteria:
- Must live in Steuben County
- Have a valid NYS driver’s license
- Have custodial or non-custodial children under age 18
- Are working a minimum of 20 hours per week or have the promise of employment
Eligibility - Chemung County
Individuals receiving cash assistance (TANF) or earning below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level who meet these additional eligibility criteria:
- Must live in Chemung County
- Have a valid NYS driver’s license
- Be working or have promise of employment
- Must be the primary owner of the vehicle
